SCDT proudly presents a series of talks and walks organised for our local communities to learn more about our local biodiversity and landscape

Have you spotted the numbered nestboxes throughout Strathblane? Starting ‘close to home’ with urban ecology and biodiversity, Dr Davide Dominoni from Glasgow University will give a talk on the Tuesday 31st of March about the study he has been doing in the village and how we can help ‘urban’ species thrive. Please come and find out during two nights with our local expert Prof. Derek Fabel from Glasgow University, who will tell us all about the local geology on the Friday 8th and Friday 15th of May.These talks are timed 8-9:30pm. The Campsie Fells are famous worldwide for the gravity defying waterfall at Jenny’s Lum, but there is much more to know about our local hydrology and how the peat bogs, moorland and grasslands uphill matter for flood risk in the village and beyond. The Campsie Fells are brimming with insect life, but some are hard to find during the day. Martin Culshaw, County Moth Recorder for Stirlingshire will dive into the captivating world of our local moth species.
